Jams, not the put on your toast type but the traffic type! As I have already said nobody likes being caught in a traffic jam, but unfortunately in today’s traffic patterns it has become a fact of driving, it is often said to learner drivers when being caught up in traffic, “welcome to real driving”!
The truth of the matter is we simply have too many cars on our roads these days and there does not seem to be a simple solution, after all we cannot just keep building more roads. This might come as a surprise to some people, bet we live on an island; there is a finite amount of land!
I just want to put this out there; learner drivers are NOT STUPID, despite some of them actually being told this by their so called driving instructor, the only reason, in my opinion anyway, that a driving instructor would say this is because they are simply inconsiderate, a bully, have a low self esteem or they are insecure about their own teaching ability.
If evolution was applied to cars in the true spirit of the work, indicators would soon disappear from our vehicles. Far too many drivers are either not using them or using them incorrectly. I am not sure if I have missed something but has the stealth indicator been invented and already being used on vehicles? As I am sure there are plenty of drivers out there road testing them!
The rest of us simply have to guess what they are going to do next. I cannot think of why people simply don’t indicate correctly if not at all, after all it is just a small leaver that only takes 1, or at push, 2 fingers to operate!
How old are children when they start learning to drive? 17? You might think it is 17 but unfortunately it is as early as 2!
Children learn more, learn it quicker and better in the first 5 years of life than at any other time, this is because they are learning naturally and using all their senses to do this.
While in the car, children from the age of 2 start to learn to drive, they absorb what they see as acceptable, attitude, behaviour and choice behind the wheel from any adult that drives them around.
Vehicles jumping lanes stem the follow of traffic by causing drivers to have to brake or back off because a lane hopper has taken the space.
