To Start your lessons on the public road you must:-

Have a signed Provisional Driving Licence
for  category  B, and be at least 17

You must be able to read an old-style number plate in good daylight from a distance
of 20.5 metres (that's 67 feet, or about five car lengths). The distance for the new-
style number plates introduced in September 2001 is 20 metres (66 feet).

You must be healthy and free from drink and drugs

Learning to drive should be fun! We hope to keep it that way; we will create a fun yet
professional atmosphere for you to learn to drive in.
Our promises to you

We Will...

  • Support you and use the training aids and methods that suit YOU.
  • Design a course to match your specific needs from your first lesson through to your practical test.
  • Not have other pupils in the car with you; our training is done 1 to 1. (unless you wish to train with a friend)
  • Keep you informed of your progress during your lessons and keep a record using our pupil record system.
  • Make all our lessons at least a 1 hour long
  • Not use the time you pay us for to conduct our personal business.
  • Make sure that the highest standards of personal and professional conduct during your lessons are met.  Our
    instructors have to sign a comprehensive ‘code of conduct’.
  • Always be courteous and considerate to you.
  • Always avoid physical contact (except in an emergency)
  • Not use a mobile phone during your lessons unless it is in an emergency or for  your benefit
  • Keep all our cars dual controlled, clean, fully insured, properly maintained and with the instructors licence on
    show for your inspection.
  • Always try to be on time at the agreed meeting point, and be available for the full duration of the lesson booking
    (subject to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control).
  • Try to give you plenty of notice should a lesson need to be rescheduled (subject to circumstances beyond your
    Instructor’s control.)
  • Let you know when you are ready for your driving test, giving you the best possible chance of a first time pass.
  • Advise you on what steps to take after you pass including Pass Plus and Motorway training.
  • Most of all we will not shout at you, blame you for your mistakes or make you feel bad, we want you to enjoy your
    training and learn as quickly as you can.

We are always ready to listen to any worries or issues that you may have.  We have in place a written grievance
procedure if you ever need it.

Theory Test

The theory test is made up of two parts.

You need to pass both parts to pass the theory test.

Multiple choice questions

You will be asked 50 questions in 40 minutes and you
must get 43 correct to pass.

Hazard perception

The hazard perception part is also delivered on a
computer but you respond by clicking a button on
the mouse. You will be presented with a series of
14 video clips which feature every day road scenes.
In each clip there will be at least one developing
hazard, but one of the clips will feature two
developing hazards.

The pass mark for the car and motorcycle hazard perception
part of the theory test is 44 out of 75.
