10.15               Penny Moon – Mindfulness 'Cool Head... Clear Mind' What does it mean ..to be a                               Mindful Driver?

The concept of Mindfulness implies being in the present moment with full attention on whatever it is you are doing, whether that is working, driving, gazing out of the window or fully engaged in your favourite pastime.

Research shows that the practice of Mindfulness supports well being by reducing the impact of stress on the system, improving your mental health and your general outlook on life. As far as we are aware the principals of Mindful Driving™ have not been applied as yet.

A Quiet Place specialises in Well Being, reducing anxiety levels and changing behaviours. With increasing stress in our society, on our roads in particular A Quiet Place is pleased to introduce you to the concept of Mindful driving.

We will be looking at the impact of stress on yourselves, your trainees and their ability to pass their tests and be safer drivers. We will be considering the increase in Road rage incidents and how to manage our anger more elegantly!

There will be very simple techniques you can take away for you and your clients that represent new thinking and practical approaches to having a cool head and a clear mind for safer driving.

Sabrian Chan and Blaine Walsh - Social Network...or Business Network?

Sabs is one of the ‘new generation’ of driving instructors that realised the days of Yellow Pages and Newspaper adverts, were becoming a thing of the past.

The demographic that we aim, just don’t use them anymore.

Sabs will show you how to improve and in some cases just get started with social networking and get in touch with the pupils you need to fill your diary.

Blaine WalshBlaine Walsh DSA ADI

Having been in the driver education industry for about 20 years, having initially  failed my own Part 3 three times and gone round again, given up instructing for a  couple of years due to becoming demoralised, lack of job satisfaction, poor  referrals and retention rates ( even though my pass rates were sky high )...

I certainly have plenty of personal experience to reflect on.

Over the last 12 years as an ADI trainer I have been in the privileged position of  personally training training personally many hundreds of PDIs, sitting in on over  700 Part 3 Tests, support ADIs in their general skills development and Check  Test preparation and observe about 100 Check Tests.

These experiences have helped me to develop www.driving-instructor.tv - an on-  line video training website which assists about 1200 ADIs and PDIs a year. You  may even be one of them!

Consequently I am fortunate  to have contact with ADIs from across the country (  and occasionally from other  countries ) on a daily basis which I enjoy very much  and which helps to keep me  up to date and ensures that my advice and support  stays relevant, regardless of  area.

Sabina ChanSabs

Hi my name is Sabina Chan, known by many as Sabs. I am an independent ADI in Essex with a real love for Social Media. Over the past  few years I have been studying it and knew when I launched my own school over a year ago what it took to get my business off the ground with using just social media.

I soon realised just how important it is for a professional Driver Trainer to have an effective Social presence on the internet and have been working with many driving instructors on a 121 basis and through webinars to help develop this further- to promote themselves and network in a way they are not used to.

Over the past year, working with my good friends Blaine Walsh and Mark Smith I have had more opportunities to do this. I am engaged and have a son, Luke
